We wanted to get a little holiday track out for everyone.

It’s a 80′s (or as Rob says a 90′s perspective on the 80′s) electro mash-up of Underworld’s new-ish single “Crocodile” with a remix of the wonderful “Crockett’s Theme”, from Jan Hammer. Crockett’s theme was originally written for an episode of Miami Vice. Check it out below:

Is there some sort of guideline that says podcasts have to be released at a certain frequency? If there is, we certainly disregard it.

But you know what they say, good things come to those who continuously hit “Update Podcast” in iTunes… and here it is. The next set – “All Good Things”, with the title punctuated by the last track.

Personally, this has been a soundtrack to a hectic summer – with a good bit of the set in place since July, about 10 test versions have been on my iPod and floating back and forth between Rob and I as we went about with new jobs, travel, and life’s adventures. Technically, it was a sonic mess for a while – these tracks were not cooperative. But even so, I found myself queuing it up on the iPod just to enjoy. That provided the encouragement to find some time, buckle down, and work hard at getting it right.

Don’t let Justin scare you off in the first track – it’s really smooth remixed with Booka Shade. Enjoy it, we won’t tell your friends. And don’t claim you can’t resist getting down to the Rob Base / Jamiroquai jam right after.

At this point if people are laughing at you, they’ll shut up when Feist pops on and go “who is that?”.. and you’ll tell them it’s that girl from the new iPod Nano commercials, but you were a fan before she was the new fad, when she was jamming out with Peaches in Toronto. Then fast forward to Track 6 and show your indie cred with Stars of Track & Field.

That about sums it up – new takes on guilty pleasures with some headphone-worthy new discoveries peppered in… all good things.

Paul Hartnoll, half of the brotherly duo that was Orbital, will be releasing his new album, The Ideal Condition on May 28th. He’s been releasing singles for a little while – one of which is the very Kraftwerk-y “Patchwork Guilt”.

Back from hip-hop land, we promise there’s at least one song in this set that you’ve forgotten about, and you’ll fall in love with again. Nothing like an acid remix of a remake of “Cruel Summer” to get that Ralph Macchio poster back on your wall… or Pat Morita if you like ‘em older.

If that doesn’t paint your fence, maybe the Orbital/Kosheen/Salt N’ Peppa track or some Annie Lennox singing over New Young Pony Club will.

To close out, in honor of their reunion, we have a trippy mash-up of The Police’s “King of Pain” with Nouvelle Vague’s remake of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart”. A remix of a mash-up of a remake… the friend of the enemy of my friend is my… Confused yet? Breathe… Wax on, wax off.

Back in the “old days”… when we were called Fermium, Rich performed a solo live mash-up/remix set at a killer Halloween party in Pittsburgh.

Now that we’re podcasting, we thought we’d share.

This is a 1h10m rehearsed live set followed by a 20m improv encore. There are quite a bunch of mash-ups and live remixes in it – some rehearsed, some… well… not.
